I think I would be able to work with EgoMap (if it worked at all...), but I still can't get Egoboo 2.7.5+ to run - I don't understand why though, because 2.4.4b does run on my machine, although not as fast as it did on Windows ME. Currently I'm using XP.

Previous machine:
Windows ME, 1800 Mhz
256 MB RAM
Frame Rate for Egoboo: ~ 90 FPS

Current Machine:
Windows XP, 1800 Mhz
768 MB RAM
Frame Rate for Egoboo: ~ 5 FPS

Clonks, I take it you have tried to adjust graphical settings? And what are your hardware specifics?

Reducing resolutions and texture filtering are the biggest performance increases.

I already reduced the resolution to 640x480, and fiddled around with the graphics settings. Before I did that, it lagged so much, even in the menu I had to wait about 7 seconds for my mouse to recognize a single movement... Shocked
Hardware specifics? What do you mean?

Ahhh...
My video card... Uh, I actually don't even know what properties my video card has, neither which one I use... Embarassed
RAM is 768 MB.
Free disc space is 3,59 GB on my C drive (25%)
and 27,6 GB on my D drive (90%, Egoboo installed here)

Hmm, well that should be more than enough. As long as your video card properly supports OpenGL. Ehm, what about your processor speed?

1,8 Ghz.
And yes, OpenGL went very well before, and AFAIK it still does.

The game often waits several seconds to load some of the initial graphics. After that, the cursor and everything else should work fine. Is this the case with you?

If you are running XP, the graphics loading will be faster if you exit the program and start again. Is this the case with you?

I think this needs to be split into the help section.
Is someone going to answer the initial question of the topic?
