Shadow palace... Umh... The Darkshine Knights... I don't like to fight them. I just lure them to a pit... They fall... And die... It's strange that allmost all enemies kill themselfs... _________________

Darkshine Knights levitate. They don't fall into pits.
Anyway, the only things hard in the shadow palace are:
1. The blind spots. Unless you have any kind of ranged weapon (which you should have), they're really hard to kill without getting yourself killed (although it's possible). If I don't have any ranged weapons, I usually just ignore that one over the pit since I know that there's a pit, and just stay near the walls.
2. The darkness. If you have to hold a torch, you can only hold one real weapon or book. Same with a lamp. A book of fairy light is the best here, although it wastes mana.
3. The darkshine knights. If you don't have any axes or shield-piercing spells, fighting against five of them at the same time is hard.
4. The gas traps. If you don't know them and are out of healing potions, you're pretty much dead if you are hit by one.
...which is why I'd want the shadow palace to come as the third one. 'till that point, you usually should have gathered some ranged weapons and a source of light already, which makes this level relatively comfortable to beat. Plus, if you take all the keys, you can keep some of them for the other palaces to either get through them more quickly, or to get more stuff from the sand palace. Heh. _________________ Yes, it's true. I fail. Epicly so. |

They fall into pits. And I hate blind spots. And gas traps. _________________

Water Palace is harder too because it is the first one. You are lowest level, low equipment and not access to Bishopia.
Do we need some sum up on the adjustments that might need to be done to make the palaces more balanced?
This could include damage, life and armor increases or decrease. More importantly, I could improve the AI, making monsters smarter and/or giving them new abilities.
A few ghouls in the Shadow Palace could be replaced with Ghuuls maybe? _________________ http://egoboo.sourceforge.net

YES. Replace few ghouls with ghuuls. And don't please change the name to ghast!!! Please? I changed my mind when I made a LITTLE faster ghuul with different skins... They are now in the Fear Factory... _________________

Darkshine Knights cannot fall into pits. Try again.
I don't know bout you guys, but I always kill blinds spots with a sword. They stagger quite easily....
As for balance, it seems fine but I personally think that the Squids are pretty hard for a class like the Healer. This is because you there is barely any options of recovery in there unless you save your potions. Healers also have range and AoE issues in the beginning. They are so limited with 1 vs 1 weaponry, it's tough to take out Trog mobs alone.
Shadow Palace needs something, but not no Ghuuls. It's fine from my standpoint.....
Sand Palace... Well... I want mummies(ignore me).
Ash Palace is fine.
Ice Palace. Here's an idea. Squids doen't really match here. How about some kind of ice monster(Squids with different skin), that does that counter that Wizard does in Bishopa and freezes you completely for a few seconds. Add about 6 or 5 in the ice room and add a locked door that opens when they are killed. The Snow troll could use an ability that allows him to blast ice needles from the ground at mid range(does incredible damage and knock back when hit. stays on the feild and blocks you way, and only the troll can break right through them.) _________________ Current Project

The Healer was designed to be a team player. See her standing behind a Soldier with a spear or ranged weapon against the squids. I believe they would be pretty dead after a short time.
I tuned the Ghuuls down a lot by the way. They do not come back to life anymore when killed.
I redid the Ice Lizards. They are improved and have the freezing ability you mention. I agree the Yeti needs something more. _________________ http://egoboo.sourceforge.net

I already wanted to post this message yesterday, after Zefz' post, but I got a "this site does not exist" again... Anyway.

That's a good idea, I'm in favor.
However, instead of rebalancing the palaces, I'd say, for now, just make the water palace not be the first one to be entered. It may be easy with the right equipment, but coming freshly from the starter, you usually don't have any good equipment. The sand palace is much easier in that point, as one can beat that palace even with bad equipment - although one might need to leave some treasures behind to avoid some of the tranches. However, because of the water, you can't as easily sneak past the trogs in the water palace. It's just too hard as a first palace... _________________ Yes, it's true. I fail. Epicly so. |

I fully agree.
Also, while we're on the Water Palace, there is a bug after you raise the water level, the Squidgie dropper leaves a message "%n is in the passage" and I don't think it's meant to. _________________ FACEPLANT |

I've always found the Watcher very weird.
Like it doesn't take much to kill it, but it can kill YOU really easily.
I died sooo many times on him. _________________
