No, paralysis is good.
It just shouldn't paralyze you with every hit.
And it shouldn't last as long.
Actually, now that the timing system has changed (it has, hasn't it?), there are some other things that are a bit messed up (whips stun for too long, for example).
Anyhow, I'm giving it 0-4 slash damage, and I've made new particles for extra damage. One does 0-4 holy damage (for all daemons), and one does 0-6 slash damage (for the Daemon Lord).
So that should be a total of 14 possible damage.
Is that good? _________________

Just get rid of Mana Drain. Paralyze is fitting.
Mana Drain should be on monsters that actually benefit from it. _________________ Current Project

Actually, the Demon drains mana and transforms it to health. I just made the Cockatrice who has paralysis attack, making the Demon less unique. Mana Drain gives him the anti-spellcaster feeling too. It is a monster that spellcasters need a non-magic user to kill. _________________ http://egoboo.sourceforge.net

The mana draining is pretty exactly why my adventurer was so screwed. They kept draining his mana, making me unable to cast my damn orb storm. And I didn't want to attack them with my sword as I keep getting hit by their explosions if I kill them in melee... _________________ Yes, it's true. I fail. Epicly so. |

So that does the same as mine, but it doesn't need the extra particles?
OK, then.
And why is rand & 2 + 13 only creating the numbers 13, 14, and 15?
(As you may have guessed, I still don't fully understand these bitwise integers or whatever the cool kids are calling them these days.) _________________

rand & 2 generates a number between 0 and 2.
The % generates numbers differently. A rand % 3 generates 0, 1 or 2. You could do rand % 3 + 13 too. But it is better to use & if you know it works.
@Clonks: Really? I never noticed their Mana Drain power was that irritating to spellcasters. A stack with mana potions in stock should maybe help? _________________ http://egoboo.sourceforge.net

Ah, I get it.
It's generating the random number and adding 13 to it....
But yeah, why not just bring mana potions?
You should always reserve spots in your inventory for potions. _________________

Hmm I was thinking of maybe adding a Paralysis resistance ability too? (Like immune vs daze/grog or walk on water or see invisible)

I actually had 6 mana potions in stock, but I wasted all of them on those demons and it didn't help.
Also, you actually can block the demons' attacks but still get paralyzed. _________________ Yes, it's true. I fail. Epicly so. |
