I think there should be a "targeting circle", a flashing circle of red that looks like the Book of Protection circle, but in red. It would ONLY flash around enemy that is targeted when a ranged weapon (crossbow, bow, gonne, ninja star, etc.) is in the player's hand. Hand weapons would not make circles like these. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/maxaxle88/

I do not see any reason to add this. The ranged weapon system is quite self explainatory. Whatever you aim at (Look at) will be shot at. Your Dexterity rating depends if your aiming is successfull and if you actually hit what you want. _________________ http://egoboo.sourceforge.net

It doesn't seem that easy to me. I have a lot of problems with the aiming system, and I can hardly ever get the arrows to go where I want. |

Tried playing a high dexterity character? Like the rogue or elf? The longbow in the next version is also improved to have better and easier aim (The arrows fly higher now, so it's easier to aim Z space too, someone standing on a ledge above you for example). _________________ http://egoboo.sourceforge.net

I tried elf before. I mean, I CAN hit something but often it seems that the target that should be aimed at is not aimed at and other times, the arrow flies off to nothing when it should be going TOWARD some target...
I haven't looked at the aiming code closely. Does the code just turn off the helper randomly, or does it scramble the results a bit (depending on dex)? The later would be very preferable to the former. Maybe just dither "vx" and "vz" by some random % based on dex?
Hmmmm.... I'll look into it. |

I have the same problems: My character aims at the furthest target, when another target is RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME, and dexterity doesn't exactly fix this...besides, it adds to the simple awesomeness that is included in few others games. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/maxaxle88/

Hm. I actually have not the slightest problem at aiming at whatever I want to aim on... Although I mostly play an adventurer. _________________ Yes, it's true. I fail. Epicly so. |

In that case, why don't you just use your melee weapons? _________________ Yes, it's true. I fail. Epicly so. |

If you don't want to use melee weapons it's your own problem!
And if you want to keep the enemies off you, why not just run away? _________________ Yes, it's true. I fail. Epicly so. |

I mean I don't want to touch or get near them (vampires for example: they steal life, or squidgies, because they zap you). Or, simply, the melee weapons are sorta useless when you're in range (Grub Mum) _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/maxaxle88/
