We ought to make new sounds for the Paladin character. I figured out a dark male voice of some sort.

I gave it a try, but I'm not sure if it all is good enough (I did it very quickly late one night anyways).

listen to these sounds and give your opinion.

(note that I'm just now downloading it and haven't listened quite yet)
Yeah, I agree. He needs deep and commanding voice. Intimidating. He should frighten evil out of its wits!
Oh, and can I come up with the "script" of what he says at times? I don't really remember what it is now, but I think at some point it was the same as the soldier's.
Anyway, I love coming up with that stuff; it's one of my favorite parts about making new characters, actually.

...Now listening to the actual files.

OK, first off, he sounds a little... I dunno, brutish. He doesn't necessarily need to sound like some really tough guy, but a smart, strategic fighter.
Also, as I've mentioned before, I'm pretty sure the "aa" in his name is actually pronounced like "ay" and not "ah." That's how everyone I've ever known with the name has ever pronounced it, anyway.
But whatever you say, Joo-hann. Very Happy
(No, I'm not actually making fun of you. It just seemed like something funny to say, and besides, it may have just been the character's inflection)

Maybe I'll try to do the sounds a different way then, unless someone else feels a call? Razz

In Norway a aa is pronounced as a Å. Or in English its how the O is pronounced in "Boss".

Yes, most people pronounce it like that.
It's certainly an honest mistake.
But Aaron is not a Norwegian name. Wink

Wow, never mind, maybe Americans are just stupid.

Actually, Aaron is a hebrew name. Which means "He from the mountains or hills".

Yes, I know.
Aaron was the name of Moses's brother.

But that does not mean that Americans aren't just stupid.

I'll do the sounds.
Let's have a nice script please, Squerkle.

That is called self-effacing humor. Look it up.

All, ah, self-effacing aside, it probably doesn't matter much how it's pronounced, although it'd probably be best to remain consistent within ourselves.

Now, here's a "script" for the Paladin. You may have already done sounds, and regardless, you can take it our leave it, whatever you want:

Quote:
Death: %n has ascended... (no change)
Full inventory: "Can't let all this weigh me down!"
Attacked by ally: "What in Aaron's name are you doing?!"
Fragged: %n has been betrayed by %t!
Accident: %n had a little too much faith... (no change)
Bored?: "There is a time for peace... And a time for ACTION!"
Bored?: "I must defend the light."
Bored?: "I am called to protect."
Bored?: "Hmm."
Bored?: "Enough waiting around."

You know, it might be interesting to make multiple bored/idle messages. Have it randomly play one of several. Right now, characters only use 9-11 sounds.

Yep, but we still need someone to do the sounds though.

It would be cool to have specific sounds depending on level. A high level arch-wizard says different things when bored than a first level one.
