Actually, other samurai's makes a lot of sense. It would be like Knights fighting bandits or samurai fighting ronins.

But I think it would be good, see;
There are many clans of Ninja, and you could be the leader of one. You could be at war with another clan to try and capture their gold. You win, and find a note about a HUGE reward for rescuing the king. Then you leave.
