No, it doesn't seem like a very Archaeologist-ish weapon.
More for stronger characters, you'd think (it also has a pretty good strength dampen; 0.4 or 0.5 I think).

Also, it should be later in the game. And well-hidden.

Cool weapon. Seems like I found a good weapon for Zombor.

Where to put it? I don't really know. We need some looting side-maps(with difficulty of course).

I'm currently playing around with Egomap(just figured out how to use vertexes-awesome). If only Quake worked for me. I would have been practicing with animating so I can use the unused models.

I think this is an awesome weapon. Typical egobooish, powerful egoboo, but with a dark drawback (see Hunger ^^).

Speaking of Hunger; Egoboo now has tons of more magical weapons and they seem easy to obtain now (town shops often more loot). This makes hunger less special and less powerful. Does Hunger need to be buffed up?

It is a secret weapon. You have to please the dark ones in the Shadow Palace to get it.

It was the first magic weapon I ever found. And I did not know about it's evil secret Razz

Ohhhh I remember now.


But yeah, I had another idea; what if legendary weapons (like Myolnr) could only be obtained once? Could that work using quests?
Once you find it, you complete a quest.
When that quest has been completed, you (and no other characters either) can't get the weapon anymore; instead, something else is in its place.

You could turn certain items into "magical artifacts" that way. Like "there can be only one" myolnir.

You could flag a character so they couldn't get the item twice by by placing a quest on them.

It might be interesting if you had to sacrifice some magical artifacts to get others. For instance, Please the dark ones using normal items, get hunger. Sacrifice another "magical artifact" and get an even better weapon.

We could reduce the level of .... ahem .... "modding" by making some penalty if you have too many powerful artifacts. Like maybe you explode from all the magical energy?

It'd be pretty simple, I think.

If the character has too many items with [MAGI] or [LGND] IDs, the player would be warned to get rid of them, or they'd be killed incessantly.
And obviously it'd be hardcoded so that the player couldn't just edit out the script or...

Oh! Better idea.

Just have it track whether magical / legendary items were obtained by a legitimate means. Like it tags them in some mostly-invisible way when they get one.
Or would that be too tricky?

When you click on a tile, you will see points. Move the mouse around a point you want to use until you see a number. Click it and you will see X, Y, Z. Y pull the tile up and down, X pulls the tile west, and Z pull the tile north and south.

Use Auto Weld unless you have the patience and skill.

In the dev versions, the levels / xp depends on the number of bonuses you get per level.

We could hardcode the "level" of an object and if certain conditions are met, you automatically suffer DIRE CONSEQUENCES. This could be explosion, or in-curable poisoning, of massively decreased stats. The trigger should be something like the sum of all the bonuses that you get from all equipped items must be less than X times your level.

If the weapons were not so script based, we could really codify this. But with scripts it would always be possible to automatically kill your target or something. Woodmouse was working on something like that for the scythe.

So, the scythe should just melt your skin off unless you had some uber protection, but how would you detect that the scythe is a special weapon???? We can't rely on a [LGND] idsz since these can be spoofed to whatever you want...


Maybe we could hard-code some specific benefit to [LGND] weapons/armor or whatever so that people would rather just throw a [LGND] tag on something rather than rewriting the script?

Maybe it can be something added to the data files of legendary and magical weapons that could only be read with a hex editor?
And then when you pick it up for the first time, it goes away.
But it won't go away if it was always held.

That way, it can tell whether you obtained it legitimately.
And if you didn't, your character dies. Over. And over.
