Man, I'm pretty good at coming up with this stuff.
Maybe I've found my new calling? Smile
I won't say it's all amazing, as it's totally up to people's opinions, but you can't deny the sheer quantity of it all -- and there will certainly be more to come.

TOMBSTONES
These are for the graveyard Zefz mentioned. I probably forgot some pretty notable people, so tell me who they are and what they did, and I'll add them.

"Here lies a happy pink elephant, who led a full life. And died a full death.
...Wait, does that even make any sense?"

"I love burying people with illiterate families. Nobody cares what I carve here."

"Arakon, the great cartographer."

"Pteromys. Weapon craftsman, and possibly also some kind of dinosaur."

"This is the tomb of the great Avatar Benjamin."

"Here lies Spyro the great."

"Here lies Jedediah, who lived to be 894 years old. The good die young? More true than you know, sonny." [12]

The tombstone just says "Jonathan." Looks like a fresh grave.

"Veiva the craftsman."

"Here's Tom. He stepped on one of those land mines in the Sand Palace. Haha!"

"Here lies Klastek Timrak, the finest bard Bishopia has ever seen."

"Icezd. Had a funny name, but don't hold it against him."

"Booger, explorer extraordinaire."

"Mary. She's not actually buried here, because she was devoured by the Dark Ones. Awww..."

This is the "Tomb of the Unknown Contributor." They're gone, nameless, and forgotten by many. But they are still honored.

"Here lies Krumble. ...If yeh had only grabbed me gonne when I'd said to!"

"Here's Zipp. Dead, obviously. And replaced. Poor Zipp?" [1]

"Here is the tomb of General Dolny."

It says: "(c) 2008 The Tombstone Corporation." [2]

"This is Eatsonlyheads. He lived for a long time, despite his strange diet."

"Don't let them fool you, kid. Coffins are really boring. Not at all what they're cracked up to be."

"YOU. ...Heehee. I've always wanted to do that. Scared you, didn't it?"

" 'Hey, I bet you I can chug six potions of sickness in four minutes!' He couldn't."

It doesn't actually have any text, only a goofy picture of somebody getting struck by lightning. Hmm, pictoral epitaphs. That's new.

"Khalil. Poisoned himself with a stiletto. Be careful with sharp objects."

"All flowers are donated to the Society for the Prevention of People Leaving Flowers for Folks who Don't Need them Anymore."

"This is the grave of Ptapasu the sculptor."

"Elmin, former mayor of Zippy Village. Rest in peace."

"Here lies Aleous, a great scribe."

"Little Henrietta was eaten by a monster in her closet. See, daddy, they DO exist!"

It says: "CAUTION: This tombstone has sharp edges!" [3]

"Here's Hunna. He was the best Paladin in Bishopia."

It's blank. Spooooky.

"Aile the Alien, extraterrestrial artist."

"Use at your own risk."

"This is Alazimir, the editor of Bishopia's first newspaper."

"Gary Clark, the ancient scribe."

"Morgan, the ancient scribe."

"Ollipeka, the ancient scribe."

"Paco, the ancient scribe."

FORTUNE COOKIES
I realize there aren't any of these in the game yet, but don't worry; I'll do some pretty soon here (after I finish with the mana recovery stuff). They'd be super-easy to do. I'm going to make them give you a random message, and increase your max health a bit. Probably give you very slight increases to random stats, too.
Although... now that I think about it, it might be annoying for some of these long ones; having to break them into multiple messages.

"The Devteam has thought of everything. They just don't have the time and energy to apply it all." [4]

"The Oracle is a lie." [5]

"Never take advice from fortune cookies."

"You're doomed. Your lucky numbers are 0, 13, and (3127411/11)3471-1." [6]

"Manufactured by cookiemancy."

"When life is awful... eat. More. Cookies. ...Seriously."

"All your soul are belong to Aaron." [7]

"The pen is mightier than the sword... IF it is sharpened, poisoned, and thrown really hard at your target. But seriously, you're better off with the sword." [8]

"He who write silly proverbs with intentionally bad grammar have too much time on his hands."

"Zippy Village's sheep are secretly plotting to take over the world. Just FYI."

"The guy in the next booth has a better fortune than you."

"Uhhmm... Spend more money. ...What, did you expect some kind of profound, but slightly cryptic, proverb? Gimme a break!"

"DYWYPI?" [9]

"Don't just eat things that are sitting around on the floor. Seriously, that cookie could have been POISONED. Then what, huh? THEN WHAT?!"

"Are you just going through a box of these to find a fortune that actually makes sense? If so, I suggest you find something more productive to do."

"Bake ME some cookies for a change. It is... your DESTINY."

"I lost the Game." [10]

"Stop looking for the meaning of life in your DESSERT. Seriously, just shut up and EAT IT."

"You will die. No, really, at some point in your life, you're going to die. Of course... it won't be a point in your LIFE, because you DIE, and... Ah, forget it."

"Good news: You will live happily ever after. Bad news: The previous sentence was a lie."

"Smash tombstones. Especially suspiciously solitary ones near Lumpkin camps." [11]

"Sometimes letting your friends live is beneficial. But sometimes it's not. It doesn't really matter whether it's like that in real life. This isn't." [11]

"Try going through Palaces as fast as you can. It's good for your health. ...No, seriously. Try it." [11]

"Suspiciosly unusual monsters in hard-to-find places? KILL THEM! Duh." [11]

"Potions might help you, but many are also slightly unhealthy. Drink sparingly." [11]

"Magical weapons are obviously very powerful, but some of them are also cursed. You have to decide whether the pros outweigh the cons!" [11]

1. Referring to the Zippy project, if you didn't catch that.
2. Got the idea for the concept from a Nethack tombstone that said "Made in Taiwan."
3. ...Like this picture of a sign that says "THIS SIGN HAS SHARP EDGES!" in really large print. I imagine it's all over the Internet.
4. A common phrase uttered by Nethack enthusiasts, followed by a sentence making it more specific to our Devteam.
5. I guess this is also a Nethack reference.
6. Think leetspeak for an explanation of the last "lucky number" there.
7. Quote from Scytale.
8. Well-known quote from Zefz.
9. Another common phrase referring to Nethack: Do you want your possessions identified?
10. Those unacquanted with the Game should go here.
11. Of course, there have to be some actually helpful tips in there too. True, most of it is just silly, but I think it's a good balance.
12. There's this tombstone... somewhere. It says "Here lies Ezekiel, age {really old; don't remember}. The good die young." It's mentioned all the time in little magazine blurbs and silly stuff, and you may have heard of it before -- or, like me, have heard of it a billion times. Anyway, I decided to make the insults there (if there even were any) very obvious.

Cool Very Happy By the way, I think Egoboo automagically splits sentences into half when they are too long.

Some more names that should not be forgotten:

Aleous - Coder, first one to implement new sound and music system
Hunna - made the paladin concept
AileTheAlien - Modeler and texture artist

eatsonlyheads - Community member from 2000-2006
dolny - Old Egoboo project leader
Veiva - Made objects, modules and stuff
Alazimir - Game Design, Web design, administration (Still popping in from time to time)
Spyro - Great member. Not to be forgotten.

Ancient coders from Yore
Gary Clark - Coder, Ported egoboo to OpenGL
Morgan - Coder, Ported egoboo to OpenGL
Ollipekka - Coder, Ported egoboo to OpenGL
Paco - Coder, Ported egoboo to OpenGL

Yes, I agree with Zefz on Aile and eatsonlyheads.

Aw, man, I can't believe I left out Elmin and Alazimir.
And Spyro, too, who, by the way, is here.
Signed up a few days ago; check the memberlist. No way that could be anybody else.

Well, OK, it IS possible, but it's unlikely.
Anyway, I'll add them.

And I know it splits them, but I don't think it will automatically set it up so that it displays the second part when it does the first, does it?

I also have one sentence for the cookies: "Chuck Norris doesn't need clocks. HE decides the time." Laughing

I don't think we need to get started with Chuck Norris "facts."
Why? Because we could easily have hundreds of cookie messages in no time.

Anyway, did you know Chuck Norris once played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun -- and WON?

I'm not saying it's a BAD idea.
Just saying we'd end up having way too many of them.
You can never have just one Chuck Norris fact. Razz

I tried the first one, it's true that Egoboo splits it into two, but Egoboo 2.6.1 only displayed up to energy.

That's what I thought... it splits it into two, but it only shows the first message.

That's OK, I'll deal:

Code:
tmpx = rand & [total]
tmpy = 0
IfXIsEqualToY
  tmpargument = 0
  SendMessageNear
  tmpargument = 1
  SendMessageNear
tmpy = 1
IfXIsEqualToY
  tmpargument = 2
  SendMessageNear
  tmpargument = 3
  SendMessageNear

//Repeat as necessary

Those were made by very old members, maybe aaron himself even. Unfinished.

The crypt was the Healer Starter, but as a Load Game module instead of starter.
