I may not be a n00b (or noob, or newb, or newbie), but I have a few basic questions for you, Zefz:
-Why is Egoboo named Egoboo?
-Why is Egoboo never going commercial? I mean, most RPGs are.
-Why is Egoboo meant to have big-headed, disproportional things and creatures that are kinda cute?
-Why have these questions never been asked?
-When is the next version coming out? _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/maxaxle88/

1: Because Egoboo sounds cool and cute.
2: Because it doesn't need to.
3: See answer number 1.
4: Because you can figure this out for yourself.
5: Don't hassle Zefz. _________________ ...i c whut u did thar...

1.-I explained this before. I'm assuming it's for the open-source mentality, but really, that's a question for Aaron.
Essentially, egoboo is a contraction of "ego boost," referring to the satisfaction of having done some kind of work that you felt was important... something like that. Look it up in wiktionary or something for a better definition.
2.-Because free games are just so cool. I don't think any (or at least not many) of us would want anyone - even themself - to make money off Egoboo. It's just really, really cool that a game of such quality can be free. Also, it's constantly growing, which makes commercialization less than ideal.
3.-It's part of the style, and it just works. I mean, you have these cute little people bashing in the heads of weird bug monsters that are oozing green blood stuff. It's sort of surreal. But it's pretty cool. It's just... it's Egoboo. Why do some games use cell-shading? Why do some games use simple geometric style? Because it works for the game.
4.-I'm sure they have been, once or twice. We all like dissecting the game, right?
5.-I agree with Agent of Dread on that one. Just be patient. It's like Shigeru Miyamoto (or someone like that) apparently said: "A delayed game is eventually good. A rushed game is bad forever." _________________

1. I think this has been throgoutly answered. It has to do with the Ego-Boost you gain while developing open-source games
2. Aaron release the game open source under the GPL lisence. This means you cannot commercialize the game. (You are allowed to make money for it, but the game is not copyrighted, which means buyers can resell the game or give it away to as many people as they want).
5. I am working on it I am thinking of two releases. One stable and one development release. Both quite big updates. But there is a lot of work yet to do: update the website, update sourceforge, make the installers, last troughout check, update the linux part, etc. (Thats what I get for being Lead Designer, Web maintainer and release version mananger) _________________ http://egoboo.sourceforge.net

These questions are for Zefz and that was kinda mean.

No, it was not mean. It was my answer to the questions. _________________ ...i c whut u did thar...
