Can I make the menus look... shinier?
I'm having difficulty remembering what the title screen looks like as far as the actual text "Egoboo" is concerned, despite the fact that I've looked at it so many times.
But regardless, it'd be neat if it had something based on the banner that is now on the website.

Then I would do stuff for regular buttons, dropbox buttons, sliders... Whatever else we may eventually need.
'cause right now it's really plain.

You can simply edit the image backgrounds under ../basicdat/menu/

The buttons themselves are handled differently. They aren't images, but are red squares with text written on them.

And I think they should be externally loaded button images with text written on them.

Do you want a banner or splash screen or what?

Personally, I like the look of the menus, but maybe we could add something.

Well, yes, I also wanted a splash screen before the game started.

Something like "Egoboo development team presents..."
Or some cooler name. Like "The Royal Knights of Bishopian Awesomeness." We can put that on the folder too. Very Happy

But anyway, then I had an idea for an image to go with it. I'll see how it works.

But the big thing, I think, is the buttons and text boxes and all that. They're just plain red, and it's a little boring. They could at least have a gradient, or something... dunno. I'm not saying simplicity is bad, but we already have all these cool images there and everything, so why not make the buttons and whatnot look nicer too?

I don't think that the menu buttons should be changed.

In principle, we can put any bitmap onto the buttons or change the color of the buttons without any big changes to the code.

There was an attempt to make the menu more flashy with zippy. Someone drew up new opening graphics that looked sci-fi instead of fantasy and there were several pre-rendered buttons.

In the end I thought that those menus do not look as good as the simple menus we have today.

Oh, is there anyway that you can check the resolution and fit the character selection menu?
For example:
800x600: 6 characters on row
1024x768: 8 characters on row
1280x1024: 10 characters on row

OK. There's plenty of other stuff to do.

Right now I'm working on a buncha new icons.
Not that we needed any.
I just thought it'd be nice to have a choice.

Icons for what? Inventory items or menu stuff? Adding little icons to the menus might be cool, though.
