The Game Manual might turn into a comprehensive Game Guide Shocked

Mine shouldn't be included in the manual, since it'll be written from a different perspective.

I got the idea from Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them," which I enjoyed, but thought should be longer and sillier.
Well, this one will be EVEN BETTER.

Yes, I am going to try to make something better than a book written by a best-selling author.

...And fail.
But it'll be fun, anyway.
And I can show off my mad writing skillz. Rolling Eyes

Anyway, remember back when I was going to make a comprehensive game guide? Out of the wiki?
Decided it was too big a project to do all at once though.
Maybe with stuff like this, though, we'll eventually have one?

So, who makes weapon guide? I'm not doing it, because I'll do the character guide.

It can wait.
And nobody said it HAD to be done.

I'm sure not rushing mine.
Have other stuff to do as well.
For starters, Mjollnir's not done.

"nejma" only works for people who speak Nordic languages.

The interpretation of "j" is too variable between European languages to be useful.

Plus, we are all writing in English here, so nejma is pronounced "nedzhma".

But it just sounds like Neijma to me. Or maybe Njeima.
It just looks right to me.
Same with how I said "Ohy."

It sounds like neidzhma, ndzhiema? the only valid sound of "j" in English is spelled out "dzh" (where the "zh" is the voiced version of the "sh" sound). The only breaks in this rule are a couple of words Spanish where it is "h". Funny because "h" is often silent in Spanish...

To me it sounds like mee-mah, not nee-mah.

After listening very carefully, I would say that the other sound is "oi oi(a) oi" The "a" sound is very faint so it's in the ().

Stop getting so technical!
It's such gibberish it's nearly impossible to spell.
It's like trying to spell the explosion of a bomb.
Is it KABLOOOM?
Or is it BLOOOJGKSH?
Laughing

The thing is that if we can get something worked out here it might go in a game guide or something. If you start off spelling things so that they make sense to you but confuses others, then where does that get us?

So, what does everyone think of the (fake but interesting?) guide to Lumpkin speech? If we put something like this in the guide and credited it to "Jonsey" the Archaeologist or to Loggy the Adventurer?

If anyone payed any attention to it they might think that the Lumpkin speech was lots more interesting and complicated than it really is! LOL

Quote:

Lumpkin Lexicon - the entire Lumpkin language is based on the three syllables Mi, Ma, and Oi.

Lumpkin "words"

MiMa - alarm sound
MiMi - friendship sound
MaMa - greeting sound
MaMi - question sound

Oi - nevermind
OiOi - there's something here
OiOiOi - let's do something
OiOiOiOi - do it!

Example Lumpkin phrases

MiMa! MaMi OiOi. - "@&$*! What's he doing here?"

MiMa MiMa! - "Everyone pay attention!"

Rofl Yeah. But add some emotion-type words, some nouns, and a few BASIC adjectives.

Lumpkins are not smart enough to use those kind of things Razz

They only have the "mood words" (MiMa, MaMa, etc.) and some basic adverbs ( the Oi Oi Oi stuff ). They get more intensity or more plural by repeating words. Subjects, objects, and verbs are determined completely by context. They really are not much better than cavemen with shotguns!

On the other hand, what can you expect from any species that is descended from cats????

Rofl Rofl Rofl I was thinking, "Hmm, are they really this smart?". Anyway, maybe it IS enough.

Were you not listening to what I said about a bestiary?! Razz

And anyway, I still think it should be just the two things: neema (or meema or whatever) and oi. Since that's all they say in-game.

Umm... I remember they said "kii", that's why I said it, in 0.something... Was it 0.9.8? Confused
