Well, sure; that, and it would give you evil points. _________________

I was thinking of using the new Quest system for something similar. When you kill a friendly guard in a town, you get marked as a criminal. Everytime you enter human populated towns and cities, the guards will hunt you down. But being a criminal, you will of course be welcome in the Pirate towns or other monstrous trading posts. _________________ http://egoboo.sourceforge.net

Heeeeeey!!!!
I had that exact same idea. I even used the same examples.
This was on the old forums I believe...
You should be able to, say, have your character put in prison, and you can't use it again for a certain amount of time (maybe actual days by your system's clock, or time spent playing the game), to have them redeemed.
Otherwise it's kinda unfair because I've accidentally killed guards when testing out new spells etc. _________________

We have the new skill extensions in the new version right?
Money, skin and level extensions are calculated with numbers, we could do the same with "Evil points" or "Karma".
Can an extension read negative numbers? ( - )
If so, karma could be between 100 and -100,
100 being a holy saint,
and -100 being an evil villain.
Some characters will start with higher or lower karma,
the paladin would be like, 50, the healer 70, but the rogue will have a -30.
Neutral characters like the adventurer and G'nome will have a 0.
Evil points are given when you kill people on your team or are caught stealing,
And good points will be rewarded when you complete side quests.
( Out of good will that is, the palaces, the 'combs and abyss are excluded. ) _________________ "To err is human, to really mess up requires a computer."

That's a really good idea!
...but no matter what, I'm still calling them evil points. _________________

No it's not.
It's all in perspective...
Having evil points wouldn't necessarily be a bad idea; maybe only people with lots of evil points would be accepted in a pirate town or something. _________________

Some special weapons should only be available to evil characters, so while they get less support from NPCs, they have access to powerful evil gear to make up for that.
Evil character experience can be rewarded differently too, Murder, revenge and kill percentage would be increased, while roleplay, quest and teamwork are decreased according to your Karma, or "Evil points/Good points".
Besides, killing NPCs is the quickest and easiest way to level up in Egoboo, that's another perk. _________________ "To err is human, to really mess up requires a computer."

Yeah, maybe there could be an invincible foe you had to sneak past or something (like in a lot of Zelda games, especially the newest one; I love those parts!), that would be cool and very rogueish. _________________

Yeah, that's what I'm saying; he'd be in some kind of separate cage with some tough enemy you can't actually kill guarding him. _________________
