Hi, I've egoboo 2.22 on linux (ubuntu) and when I try to play a scenario the characters are invisible. I have acer aspire 5580 (with intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950). Does anyone know why it's happen. And how to solve it?
TIA |

That sounds like a REALLY old video card, maybe you should get an ATI Radeon 7000 (I think that's what mine is) or newer video card. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/maxaxle88/

Tried this solution if it works?
http://hargisjerry.tripod.com/solution.htm (Disabling support for enhanced CPU instruction sets.)
Also tried to update newest drivers?
And lastly, at the end of the week I will try to get up a download for Egoboo Linux Distro Version 2.4.4 (Which may also solve some problems, in addition to hundreds of other updates). _________________ http://egoboo.sourceforge.net

I feel sorry for you, Blackue. It's just too bad some of us can play this excellent game Egoboo properly and others can't. Hope you get it fixed! _________________ FACEPLANT |

| That's actually a newish video card, and is one of the best supported ones on Linux. Egoboo's been totally unsupported on Linux for quite awhile now though, so you might be out of luck for now. |

There is a new linux ported version of egoboo, thats just been made by some linux programmers. They had this transparency error too, but somehow fixed it. As I said, I will try to get it up at the end of the week with some luck... _________________ http://egoboo.sourceforge.net

Yesterday I installed egoboo on windows, and it works. But unfortunately I don't use windows too often. So it's not a problem with my hardware.
Thanks anyway.
I will wait :) |

The "main" Egoboo site is always out-of-date; Aaron abandoned the project himself and now it has been taken over _________________

I have this problem too. I'm using the egoboo packages for ubuntu gutsy. Getting a different video card is simply not an option, since I am using a laptop.
I haven't looked at the relevant code yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if egoboo is failing to use power-of-two texture sizes. Some newer video cards (most notably the latest offerings from Nvidia) don't care about texture size, but many older cards will give you blank graphics if you use non-power-of two textures for opengl. The simplest fix (assuming this really is the source of the problem) is to just pad the textures. it wastes a little memory, but it will bring much broader compatibility |
