 Good to hear. Now we only have Drillman with problems here. So you've tested both 2.22, 2.4.4b and 2.7.5? And all except 2.22 did not work?

Right click on the program, and click properties. There should be something somewhere that says "compatability mode" (I don't remember what tab it's under since I haven't done it in a while).

Hello. I'm here just to inform you that Drillman isn't the only one with aforementioned problem. I've found out today that Egoboo is still being developed and after several I years tried to run this game. Unfortunately, I had same error messages showing up as other folks here - 14001 error and suggestion stating that I should reinstall software.
Reinstallation gave me nothing (I've also installed C++ thingy). There is no way for me to change compatibility mode for executable file. Reboot, before someone come with that advice, didn't changed anything too. DirectX and hardware drivers should be ok. I've used last patch from this thread (that final one) - no much change in how game works observed (In other words - still it doesn't).
There is also cursing, asking all existing and several fictional gods for help, doing exorcisms and casting other spells but frankly, I'm not yet crazy enough to believe it will work.
Operational system: Windows XP with SP2. Hardware fits minimum requirements stated in game manual. Version of game: 2.6.1.

It always makes me happy to hear that! Or... read it. Ah, whatever!
Anyway, this is a very weird problem. I wonder why it hasn't been heard of before?
Have you tried older versions of the game? It'd be helpful if you could let us know which versions work (or don't) on your computer.

| As I've stated, last time I was playing this was years ago. And yeah, back then it worked If someone would find it really useful, I can look for several versions and try to play them. Just suggest which I should download (I will surely not be against posting links to those versions, too ). When I get some free time, I'll try to test them. |

2.6.1b (with fixpatch) should work. I'm putting together a new release with the fixpatch included so that one would be best methinks (when it is released).

By the way, you don't happen to have any old, in-development stuff from the Zippy days, do you?
We're looking for some "lost" stuff, like the Drakonian.
