1. Who came up with the idea of G'nomes using gunpowder/steampunk tech?
2. Who came up with the idea of G'nomes, Gonnes, etc.?
3. Why do G'nomes get shotguns and pistols when it gives them an enormous advantage? Why not muskets or gunpowder-using guns?
4. Who came up with Bull Wolves, Hot Dogs, Ice Dogs, Chocobones, etc.?
5. Why chibby-style?
6. Will any "fun" modules ever be put back into Egoboo? _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/maxaxle88/

1. Aaron.
2. Aaron.
3. Do not question Aaron's judgment.
4. Aaron.
5. A) It's spelled chibi. B) It is NOT chibi, although I do know what you mean. C) Do not question Aaron's judgment.
6. I'm assuming the main focus right now is finishing the storyline. Extra sidequests and generally pointless areas will be implemented later, I'm assuming. But that's all just guesswork.
If you want a more detailed answer to the first three, however, I'll provide one:
The idea of gnomes and dwarves using technology is not new at all. Back in the earliest stories (like Norse mythology) the dwarves were able to craft unusual tools and weapons, such as the ship skithblathnr, which was built so cleverly it could fit an entire army, yet it could also be folded up and fit into someone's pocket.
Modern fiction has just taken the ideas further, and steam power was a fairly natural next step, really. I doubt it was the invention of any individual. But obviously it was Aaron who came up with the specific details/applications we have in Egoboo.
Regarding the second part; I'm assuming you're talking about the spelling. First off, GNOME is a desktop environment that is pronounced "guh-nohm", and I would not at all be surprised if that's where Aaron got the idea. Otherwise, it just makes sense. That's how it SHOULD be pronounced, right? *sigh* It makes sense to me. But I suppose someone with little or no imagination would not understand it (I did not say that you had no imagination. I also cannot say whether or not you understand it, as I am not you.).... Then, dwarves and gnomes are always portrayed as having very pronounced (and, to outsiders, unusual) accents, so Aaron must have thought it would be fun to spell things the way they would be pronounced. Again, this makes perfect sense to me, but I can't speak for anyone else.
And on to the third part. They don't really use anything that resembles anything modern, really. They're just G'nomish, and that's all there is to it. They were never intended to be realistic. This is a fantasy world.
The G'nome's technology is superior to some other weapons, yes, but they also have no knowledge of any kind of magic, and in this world that is a pretty large disadvantage.
It's a game, a well-made game. All well-made games have balance.
In conclusion: Don't question this stuff. It just WORKS, and that's all there is to it. It's part of the world, and it was just something someone (in this case, Aaron) came up with.
Creativity is not a complicated process. It just happens.
So questions like these have no real answers.
Ask anybody (including me) where they get their ideas. They can't answer you; it just makes sense to them. Sometimes it doesn't make sense to anyone else.
But that's just how creativity works.
Gary Larson often mentions this idea in his books. Apparently he gets (or used to get; he probably doesn't much now that he's done cartooning) questions a lot regarding how he gets his ideas. He says he doesn't understand why anyone would ask something so silly. He doesn't know. It just happens.
If this hasn't been a satisfactory answer, sorry.
But it's hard for someone to understand another person's creativity, and it's especially hard for someone who is not creative to understand creativity at all.
Again, I don't mean to be insulting and am not necessarily talking about you personally. I don't know you and have not seen enough of your work to judge anything like this.
I'm just trying to explain. _________________

Question mostly about G'nomes.
I think I would agree with Purple.
You're thinking about stuff and ideas pop in your head.
Ideas probably wouldn't come with this world around us.
Simple ideas can grow large.
If nobody came up with much anything, the world wouldn't be much anything compared to how it is.
If I am a bad explainer, well, I am a bad explainer.
I can't explain anything anyway. _________________ Penguinflyer2222: Made in U.S.A.

If you want an idea if Aaron's sense of humor check out the name generators for the Lumpkins (Legbiter, Kneelicker, ...) or the COBOLs (RUN, END, STOP, and various other commands from the COBOL language).
Second Post...
After looking at quite a few Chibi drawings, Egoboo is quite similar to this style. |

Yes, it is.
It's like this:
"Aww, look at the cute little care bears! AH! The care bears are attacking me with hatchets! AAAHH! A DEFORMED HUMANOID CORPSE JUST JUMPED OUT OF THE GROUND!"

Sort of.
But it's the faces, to me. Egoboo's faces are very different; I've never seen anything like it.
And I know; I've seen the names before (there are actually some in the Griffin Tower that have names now); they're great! _________________

Really? I wonder how you think "normal" people should look like. _________________ http://egoboo.sourceforge.net

Well, hmm... I think Gorrli is deformed. Wait, it's not human... And it's not in the game... hmm... hmmm.... Ummm... If normal human is chibi style, Ghouls are deformed, if normal is normal, then they are not so much... _________________

| From the art tutorial I saw on YouTube, it seems that some of the main features of chibi is incompletely drawn features (no nose, lines not completely around the eyes, maybe just a hint of mouth)... plus chibi is super-deformed, ant is has an inherent cuteness... |

They're deformed because they have rectangular heads and limbs, and a triangular torso, when everyone around them look like plush dolls.
On top of that, they don't look welcoming at all. _________________ "To err is human, to really mess up requires a computer."
