Doesn't help that the registration was being all brokenish.
And what you said is definitely not the impression I had from the older days.
Seriously, we're cramming everything in before 3.0.0?!
To me, that doesn't even sound remotely open-source-ish.
Open source is never finished.
*Pulls out overused example*
Look at The Battle for Wesnoth.
The game is done.
But it's still under development. _________________

Exactly what I'm saying.
But the source and all that is finished once we get to 3.0.0.
Development, however, will never stop.
There'll be new classes, new modules, new weapons, new TOOLS, new anything made by the community to keep us expanding forever! _________________ FACEPLANT |

YAY! Let's all have then a big party when 3.0.0 comes out! That would be hard to have a party, but in the forums! _________________

I don't think we should stop development of the source code in 3.0.0, because we can always add new functions to the scripting language, right? _________________ You really thought so, didn't you?

Yes, but, I mean, who wants to download millions of the same thing every time a new function is added? _________________ FACEPLANT |

Exactly.
And new features.
And new modules.
And characters.
And items.
And they can be official.
I honestly won't believe what you say until I hear it from a developer...
And at that point, I'll just be all " ... " _________________

By the way, stop rubbing that in.
I regret leaving for so long, but everyone gets distracted sometimes, and other times, real life just has to take priority (my absence was a combination of the two).
How long it took for people to get back here has nothing to do with how long they've been with the game in general, which in turn has nothing to do with how valuable they are.
Everybody counts. As long as you're here, and you're contributing stuff, nothing else really matters.
So you were the second person to register? Great.
Just don't gloat about it, because it means nothing.
So drop it.
k?thanx. _________________

lolwutlyksrsly?
Heh, anyway, now Zefz is gone, so I won't be getting an answer from him.
Wait for Birdsey, then.
But still, I seem to recall quite clearly a conversation that went something like this:
n00b*: What will happen when 3.0.0 is released? Is it all over?
Someone who knew what they were talking about: Of course not. We'll keep developing things.
n00b: But does that mean the game won't be developed officially anymore?
Someone who knew what they were talking about: No, it just means the main game will be finished.
*i.e., probably me. _________________

I think Egoboo just needs a bunch of sidequests and quests and journeys and stuff that gets you experience or special items or other stuff, etc. and you build your own character's storyline from stuff like that so that a set storyline is not needed. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/maxaxle88/

Bah, the title - lolz.
This is my last argument regarding my "strange" ideas. Alexander Graham Bell, the guy who invented the telephone, said: "Don't stick to the public road. Try driving into the woods, and you'll eventually find something amazing that nobody else has ever seen..." Something similar. What he means is that we shouldn't stick to the same "game", it's not very wise for me. Something greater can be done that lots of people might like. Yeh I know you like the original Egoboo but hey there's nothing wrong with experimenting with something different, it's open source after all. I understand where those feelings come from; in society, when there is technological progress, we really miss the good old days. Or in rock, some people like the 80s rock, like me, lolz. I can't stand most of the new rock songs. But others will like them. So, yeah. It's not an online game, therefore you can still play the old version yourselves, doesn't make a difference how many people will play the old/new version. _________________ Season: 3

But still, if Egoboo changes, and the old one is not developed anymore, do you really think that we would like to stick with 3.0.0 when it is released? I mean, if newer versions after that would be your versions, would there be any good? I mean, that wouldn't get the old players like my big brother back. You understand what I mean? _________________

So we should turn Egoboo upside down just to lose the old players and get a few new ones instead? I guess you'll have to do that by yourself. Go ahead, create your own version of Egoboo; after all, it's open source, you can do that. But don't call it "official" or something, and don't count on the support of other people. _________________ Yes, it's true. I fail. Epicly so. |
