Yeah, I always am late, but whatever. Welcome to the forums. The main page, at which you probably checked your version number, currently displays the wrong number due to a typo (Yeah, it says 2.36b has been released, but actually it's 2.6.3b). That version contains a few things that shouldn't be there, like, yes, the fiend bugs in the adventurer starter. The movement problems (right is down, down is left, then it switches...) is the very nasty effect of daze+grog at the same time, which those fiend bugs happen to deal upon a hit, and probably also is why the AI behaves so dumb for you and dies so quickly.
@PurpleSquerkle: Well, your statement that nobody uses the keyboard settings is awfully wrong, because it's the only I use. I find it very intuitive once you get used to it, and it allows for excellent control.
The only thing is the number of keys you need to remember for full control, which is quite high. So I guess people that aren't used to playing many games at the computer with the keyboard will probably prefer a gamepad, which I fully understand. But I do play tons of computer games anyway, so that point's moot for me. _________________ Yes, it's true. I fail. Epicly so. |

If you can use a keyboard for it, I will (Except for PoP).
Unlike most of the people who play Cave Story. _________________ FACEPLANT |

Ghaaargh.
Sorry for all the confusion, I could have sword I said MOUSE movement.
Whatever the case, that's what I meant.
I always use keyboard controls, of course, and said as much in the post ("These are the controls I always use:"), so following that up with saying that nobody uses keyboard movement was really odd.
The MOUSE movement is awful. MOUSE MOVEMENT!
I hope that cleared everything up.
Now I'll edit the original post. _________________

It indeed did, and I do agree that the mouse movement is terrible. I once tested it and will certainly never use it again. _________________ Yes, it's true. I fail. Epicly so. |

I use a joystick. I can't use keyboard or mouse... _________________

I tested mouse movement. It's as good as a joystick that you constantly have to push, and the mouse button combination are WAAAAY too hard! Joystick depends on what I use, gamepads work great when configured the right way, but keyboard rules because of its practicality and ease of use.
ANYWAY...
Yes, I tested the Adventurer Starter, and it's way too hard .

Well you do not have to worry about Fiend bugs anymore, as 2.6.4 is finished _________________ http://egoboo.sourceforge.net

No. The adventurer starter is meant to be easy and welcoming to new players, not ridiculously hard with some super-secret secrets that kill you. _________________ Yes, it's true. I fail. Epicly so. |

Keyboard!
I don't even know what my mouse controls are...
Anyway, welcome and have a lightbulb! _________________ Penguinflyer2222: Made in U.S.A.

Maybe there should be some sorta funny easter egg in the room with the armor chest, maybe a plunger... ...and when you pick it up, there would be a message: "%n_found_one_of_those_things_that_the_king_sticks_on_the_faces_of_chefs_who_mess_up_his_food..."

In Healer starter, there would be this message when there would be plunger
%n_found_a_plunger._Necromancer_doesn't_show_mercy_for_those_who_have_betrayed_him,_but_he_sticks_the_plunger_to_the_betrayer's_face...
Well, maybe not. _________________

I just split the topic in two, and since this part has served it's purpose, I'll lock it to prevent it from going further off-topic... _________________ Yes, it's true. I fail. Epicly so. |
